I noticed as I was reading the novel that the governess was so often influenced by the innocent appearance of the children that she was unable to see the ghosts influence on the children, and decided to write about her experience with this psychic phenomenon that influences all people. Thus, I started by noting every example of the halo effect that I saw as I went along reading the story. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
After I’d taken notes, I began my first draft with these points in a Google doc, organizing them how I thought they would make sense in my essay. I started by sorting my points into two categories: beauty=innocence and ugliness=evilness (This process can be viewed in my plan *see below*.) <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Next, I was able to combine these points into a first draft to hand into my peers and Dr.P. After several drafts, however, Dr.Pennington and I were still unable to find the perfect thesis for this essay, so I decided that this should be the essay that doesn’t make it into the presentation portfolio. We were unable to decide whether I was simply arguing that the halo effect had a hold on the governess or if there was an underlying argument about corruption to be made. While this essay may not be present in the presentation portfolio, no need to fret, you can find it right here if you want to read and decide an argument for yourself.
