This paper was written in March of 2022 for my Communication Technology Social Change class. The learning objective was to use the work of Marshall McLuhan to write an essay that seeks to better understand a new communication technology. I chose to focus on the Apple Watch because of the popularity of the technology. This was important because we were able to see the pros and cons of this device and where it could improve in the future. The target audience for this paper was Dr. Glantz and the rest of my COME384 class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This paper was written in April of 2022 for my Communication Technology Social Change class. The learning objective was that popular culture texts offer plenty of evidence that our society has some anxiety about technology. We watched and analyzed an episode of Black Mirror<\/em> for its messages about technology. The specific episode I analyzed was communicating the problem in society of parents using tracking apps to constantly monitor their children and censoring children from real life as well through internet, television and social media. This was important to see the future technology could have and to analyze how it correlates to our current society. The target audience for this paper was Dr. Glantz and the rest of my COME384 class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This paper was written in May of 2021 for my Emotional Well-Being class. The learning objective was to create messages appropriate to audience, purpose, and context. My target audience was college students and the benefit of using yoga to help decrease anxiety. My resource was Tik Tok because of the constant use by college students. I created Tik Tok’s that included the benefits of yoga and different yoga poses to help decrease anxiety. This was important to create an impactful project that could help college students learn how to cope with anxiety during hard and stressful times. The target audience was my professor Dr. Morgan and my COME389 class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mass Communication Final Research Powerpoint<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This powerpoint was for my senior capstone Mass Communication Theory class. The learning objective of this project was to apply communication theory and research methods we have learned throughout our time at St. Norbert. I did a replication study of “Instagram Selfie-Posting and Young Women Dissatisfaction: Investigating the Role of Self Esteem and Need for Popularity.” I measured my research with selfie-posting behavior, body satisfaction, self-esteem, need for popularity and body mass index. There was a significant correlation between how often you take photographs of yourself using any device or platform and the need for popularity. There was a significant correlation of how often you post photographs of yourself on Instagram and the need for popularity. General satisfaction has a correlation with body satisfaction. The conclusion of this study was it was conducted to explore a role of self-esteem in the relationship between Instagram user’s selfie-posting behavior and body satisfaction. The target audience was for Dr. Kretz, my COME468 class and those who participated in my study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

News Release for your Client Paper<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This paper was for my Writing for Media class. The learning objective for this paper was to act as a PR Representative for a nonprofit organization by crafting a news release intended to go out to media professionals and posted on the website. I chose to focus on the Wisconsin Humane Society and new dogs that have been rescued and are looking for homes. It was important to be able to create a news release for a charity and how to interact with a large audience. The target audience was for Dr. Hauser and the rest of my COME252 class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This poster was for my Gender and Media class. The learning objective was to focus on a theory that would guide your content analysis. I chose to focus on the Sex Role Perspective in the show New Girl.<\/em> I focused on Jesse the main character and how she is shown throughout the season. This then helped me to learn the biases and stereotypical roles seen in the show. It was important to learn about stereotypes and how it is portrayed in our media. The target audience of this project was Dr. Kretz and my COME331 class where we presented our posters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TV Market Research Paper<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This paper was written for my Writing for Media class. The learning objective was to choose from the top 50 TV markets in the United States and prepare a research paper about one of the cities. We had to make a treatment for a TV show targeted to take place in a particular market. I chose to focus on the city of Minneapolis and a TV treatment plan focusing on the local events happening in Minneapolis such as the Black Lives Matter movement. This was important to be able to communicate for a target audience and think of a treatment plan. The target audience of this paper was Dr. Hauser and my COME252 class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This paper was written for my Writing for Media class. The learning objective allowed me to act as a speechwriter for the humane Society. The goal was to craft a speech that aligned with Humane Society advocacy on public issues. It was important to be able learn how to act as a charity and be able to create opening remarks for a press conference and be able to successfully discuss public issues. The target audience was for Dr. Hauser but as well as could be for the public and the Humane Society. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
