In all honesty, I was the only one who really contributed to this project. The idea I had for a TV show would definitely connect with its target audience, it had a purpose for educating people about history, and the cast for the main characters would assure that the show would not be viewed as boring. As an example, I studied the techniques on successfully running shows on the History Channel, such as Game of Thrones, and used them to make this show hopefully successful as well.

Learning objective 1 

For this project I focused on the character Amelia Shepherd from Grey’s Anatomy, My main goal was to see if she was seen as more masculine or feminine in her gender roles. This is how I analyzed the information. As I watched each episode, I followed a simple outline to make sure every detail was covered. I first explained why the Bechdel test failed or passed the desired episode then I compiled all gender roles that Amelia exhibited in that episode. I did this by sectioning my list of gender roles into two parts. The first part focused on the feminine characteristics along with body language, and the second focused on the masculine characteristics also including body language. The last step was to tally up all the characteristics, to identify if Amelia was seen as masculine or feminine.

Learning objective 2

The poster delivers the message that I intended, since other researchers and viewers of the show are the people most likely to be interested in this. Those who watch this show won’t want to sit through a six-page slideshow or read a seven-page paper. A poster gave them all the information they wanted in one place, so it was the best idea!  Despite my attempts to make the poster look pleasing, it was difficult to do since so much information needed to be included: my findings, other academic sources I used, as well as images.

For my project, I chose to identify gender representation, and gender stereotyping evidenced in the character Amelia Shepherd from Season 11 of Grey’s Anatomy.

With my infographic, I was trying to make family members aware of the different
conflict styles that can be used along with the pros and cons of each approach. Secondly, I added
research on vast subtopics that related to family conflict in some way to show how important this
topic is. I hoped the message I got across to people was that there are different ways to handle
conflict because each family and situation is different. There’s not going to be a cookie cutter
mold for people to use to fix all their problems. As most people still have the stigma that conflict
is bad in any form, whereas a little bit of conflict is healthy for relationships and families.
