As a communication student at St. Norbert College I have learned how to compose myself and communicate with people in the most effective, appropriate, and ethical ways. Similarly, I learned how to communicate in ways that achieve mutual progress for both parties and ways that will allow me to be in a beneficial position going forward in my relationships. Likewise, my communication skills learned throughout my time at St. Norbert has allowed me to also change both personally and professionally. Overall my learning at St. Norbert has taught me how to be a more accepting and open person. Throughout my time I have been exposed to so many different views and concepts that I never considered or thought of before. This made me a more understanding person and ultimately less judgemental. Yes, I learned what most people would call “people skills” but even more so, I learned how to be a considerate critical thinker. Going forward this will not only aid me in my personal life but also in my career. The workforce is a diverse environment and I believe my lessons learned at St. Norbert have properly equipped me to adapt to such diverse environments. Ultimately, St. Norbert has taught me endless things but most importantly St. Norbert has made me a better, more well rounded person.
