SELF-REFLECTION
Looking back on my time advancing through the Communication and Media curriculum, it is safe to say that I have taken many more lessons away than previously thought possible. I was pushed to enter business from the very beginning of my time at SNC. However, I wanted to take a route that was less structured and allowed for more creativity. After declaring my major sophomore year, I dove into the Com/Media world full-strength. In my completely biased opinion, I think the communication department has the best professors, and coolest students. The main lessons I took away from each class I took was this, everything is way more complicated than I thought. Whether it be Political Communication, Gender and Media, or Interpersonal Communication. I entered each one of these classes anticipating I knew just about everything before being proven terribly wrong.

My classes have impacted me beyond St. Norbert College because for the first time in my educational career, I was inspired to seek out more information. During my free-time, I would attend speakers on campus, read books, and ask questions about topics that related back to Communication and Media. This search for information applies to my life professionally too. I think I learned to be a better student, and therefore became more comfortable with the idea that I’m not always going to know everything. This has helped me dive into roles that I otherwise would be too nervous to apply for given my fear of failure.
EVIDENCE OF ENGAGING IN COMMUNICATION INQUIRY
COME 122
Reading Assignment 3
Tested how my roommate and floormate reacted to me breaking social norms. I broke social distancing norms, and recorded their reactions to this. This assignment allowed me to take a communication topic, learn it, and see its role in society.
COME 252
Interview Assignment
I took 3 different age demographics within my family for this assignment (teen, middle-age, senior) and asked them about their social media use. This allowed me to see how media has a range between demographics, and how marketing tactics will vary depending on the target market. I engaged with numerous people and connected it to the material we were learning to draw my own conclusions.
COME 252
DISSEMINATION PROJECT
This was a group project that focused on researching eating habits around the globe. For the purpose of time, we focused on 3 countries that were in very different geographic locations. We created a website containing the information we found regarding how food marketing strategies impact their cultural eating habits. This connects to communication inquiry because I worked with other students to take pieces of information and form an accessible tool that investigates media concept.

Final Research Proposal
I proposed researching "How Streaming Services Impact Materialistic Tendencies in American Culture". After spending a lot of time reading other studies and empirical articles, this project made me look into my own topic and form a proper research paper. I read & interpreted numerous scholarly sources, and wrote my own research paper.
EVIDENCE OF TAILORING MESSAGES TO A SPECIFIC AUDIENCE
COME 324
Persuasion Project
This was a group project that had us analyze a campaign and then take that very campaign, and alter it. In this paper, we explained our process, ideas, goals, and connected them to class material. We wanted this campaign to speak to all women, particularly targeting younger girls.
COME 324
Barbie Presentation
This is the correlating presentation to the Persuasion Paper. We pitched our plan to the class and included our final artifact, which is a video. This was a success and reached our audience since it was posted by St. Norbert College on National Women's Day.
COME 315
Critical Start-Up & The 4 Horsemen
Group project that had students choose a concept and create a module demonstrating how to enact them. We chose 2 concepts and related them to SNC protests. This made our project stand out because we had a clear target audience that provided information related to a very relevant topic.
COME 352
Press Release for Personal Brand
While abroad, my Writing Across Media class had us create our own campaign and brand. I created "Green Media" and related all my classwork to my audience of young adults interested in conservation. This is just one of the many pieces that were part of my portfolio throughout that semester-long project.
EVIDENCE OF CRITICALLY ANALYZING MESSAGES
COME 315
Critical Start-Up & The 4 Horsemen
Group project that had students choose a concept and create a module demonstrating how to enact them. We chose 2 concepts and related them to SNC protests. This required a deeper level of thinking and analyzing when it came to the chapter material.

Final Research Paper
I proposed researching "How Streaming Services Impact Materialistic Tendencies in American Culture". After spending a lot of time reading other studies and empirical articles, this project made me look into my own topic and form a proper research paper. I read & interpreted numerous scholarly sources, and wrote my own research paper.
COME 329
Political Communication Final Paper
For this final paper, I looked at the 2016 election and how the use of emails, victimization, and mortification played a role during the campaigns. This required me to examine chapter material, scholarly articles, as well as being informed about the previous presidential election. I took all the elements to form a cohesive paper about the previous election.

Persuasion Project
This was a group project that had us analyze a campaign and then take that very campaign, and alter it. In this paper, we explained our process, ideas, goals, and connected them to class material. This force us to critically analyze what the original message was, what/how the class content related to that, and what our new message would be while relating class content to that as well.
