For this assignment from Dr. Herrman I was able to not only learn more about my father but more about my family history. This course taught by Dr. Anna Herrman helped me understand how to truly and properly ask questions for a person to openly communicate to you. The importance of this assignment has helped me communicate with my family as well as others.

For this oral interview assignment I interviewed my father, John Dominick Sacco via phone call. For this interview I picked out basic questions, family life questions, and some personal questions about his life which may have lengthy answers. We touched on aspects regarding family issues, family members, and how family communication plays a role in our lives. I felt this would be appropriate for this course and the given assignment prompt. John Dominick Sacco is 60 years young and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York with his second wife, Divina Tapel Sacco.

Basic Questions:

1.) What is your full name and why were you named this?

  • I went to PS 277 (PS 277 stands for Public School 277) for kindergarten. Then I went to Resurrection which was a Roman Catholic school. I went there from grade 1 to grade 8, and I disliked it very much. I had fun but I disliked it. – For high school I went to Nazareth Regional High School. It was a semi private diocesen school for two years, and then after that it became a full private school. I loved high school, I hated the work, but I loved high school. I went through many schools in the police department as well as two different types of driver training: specialized vehicle pursuit, motorcycle school, fraugulant training school, accident investigation school, and many many others throughout my time. I was trained in so many things I cannot remember.

  • I have been married three times, twice to the same woman, your mother Jocelyn Tan Sacco at city hall for the first time in 1988. Beginning of 1988 we were married again in a religious ceremony in St. Anselm’s Roman Catholic Church in Brooklyn, New York. My second marriage was to Divina Sacco, we were married in Brooklyn Borough Hall which was a civil marriage.
