I am currently majoring in Political Science and Communications, with an emphasis in Media Studies. I have always been drawn to studying communications because it is ever-present in the world around us. My courses have given me a deeper understanding of interpersonal, mass, professional, political and social media communication and how to implement them in day to day life.
I was able to study in Rome, Italy for a semester in spring of 2019. Through my coursework and lifestyle abroad, I was able to experience the differences in communication, culture and politics particularly in the European setting.
My three years at SNC has not only given me the knowledge in my field, but has also helped me grow as an individual. The sense of community and compassion is something that I have cherished in my time here and hope to translate into my own life going forward.
Currently I am interning with the City of De Pere in their communications department. This position has helped me refine my written communication through drafting press releases, writing social media posts and constructing newsletters. Additionally, it has helped me develop my digital marketing skills through managing social media pages as well as capturing photography and videography to promote community events and the city at large.
After graduation I would like to pursue a career in public relations/ digital marketing. I am drawn to PR because it lends itself to all different industries. While currently I have an in-house PR role, in the future I would like to experience working for a PR firm.
