In my time at St. Norbert College as a communication major, I have gained a deep understanding of processes and theories concerning interactions between individuals, groups, and technology. The courses I have taken have not only helped me develop skills that will help me create content, but that allows me to effectively communicate and work with individuals. Courses such as Conflict Communication and Interpersonal Communication have especially developed the ability to effectively work with others, an essential skill needed to succeed in any future career I may have.

Choosing a concentration in media studies allowed me to establish an even more thorough understanding of the history, theories, and effects of media on individuals and society. Through the knowledge gained in my media classes, I have learned to be able to analyze different media, from radio broadcasts to social media posts, to understand their purpose, goals, and effects on the audience.

In addition to my course at St. Norbert, my semester in Rome had a significant impact on my education. Getting the chance to live in another culture truly expanded my understanding of the world. Taking the course Intercultural Communication in Rome was an especially incredible experience. I was able to directly apply what I was learning in class to what I was experiencing as an American in Italy. The class discussions were also a great experience, as I was able to hear from people from different parts of the world explain their culture and connect it to my own.
