During my time as a student at St. Norbert College, I have taken a variety of communication courses to fulfill my Communication Studies minor. I believe that Communication Studies was the perfect minor to pair with my major of Sociology and Human Services because communication will be a large part of my role as a social worker. As a Communication and Media Studies student I learned about multiple kinds of communication and how they will apply in my future relationships with clients. I learned the most in the courses that related to sociology the most; Family Communication, Communication and Emotional Well-Being, and Interpersonal Communication. These three courses, as well as the other communication courses that I have taken, have opened my eyes to why people communicate the way they do. It was fascinating to learn about the different forms of interpersonal communication and the different models. I loved both my family communication and communication and emotional well-being courses because they relate directly to counseling which is my dream. My goal is to become a marriage and family counselor after getting my masters degree in social work at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
