Hello!
My name is Olivia Smidel, I am a recent graduate of St. Norbert College. I received a degree in Communication and Media Studies, as well as Integrative Studies. Integrative Studies is a unique program to St. Norbert College; I am actually one of the first cohorts to graduate with this degree. The major is designed to allow students to chose their coursework based on the necessary skills for their future careers. Most importantly, Integrative Studies is all about interdisciplinary work. Similar to the idea of a liberal arts education, integrative studies encourages students to take an array of courses; therefore, developing a wide array of skills. Through my Integrative Studies major, I chose to take courses in business, sociology and art. These are just a few examples of the interdisciplinary work that I did.
Through my college course work, I have mastered many skills necessary for my future career. I hope to work in the non-profit sector but more specifically within communication and event planning. Although I have some experience with the media side of communication, my true passion and skills lie in interpersonal communication. This webpage will highlight the work I did throughout my four years of undergrad and showcase the many skills I have acquired.
