COME 124B: Principles of Mass Communication

This is a poster that I created for people who are considering a career as a t.v. director. I made this poster as a part of my research project my freshman year. I learned more about how visual media is created and how to conduct media research. Fun fact, this was my first ever communication class!

COME 180B: Communication Research Methods

This is one of the first research papers I ever wrote! I wrote this paper, along with my other group members, at the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic. As the title of the course suggests, the point of this class was to learn how to conduct communication research.

COME 305: Social Identity and Intergroup Communication

I created this poster to discuss one of the many identities I have, which is residential identity. I wanted to make this poster for children/adolescents/young adults who moved residences a lot when they were younger, like me! I conducted scholarly research to learn more about my residential identity and how it has shaped who I am today!

COME 312A: Communication and Mental Health

I made a presentation on how a person can heal after leaving a toxic relationship. Not only did I discuss recovery, but I also talked about what people might experience after leaving and provided them support. This presentation was created to help people who just left a toxic relationship. My main goal was to make these individuals feel validated, understood, and that they will be alright.

COME 328A: Family Communication

This is an infographic I made about how sibling communication is affected by the death of a parent. During an emotional time, like this, dynamics and communication patterns between family members can change. I wanted to make this infographic so a person can understand why their relationship with their sibling may have changed because of this event. I was also able to learn about different family dynamics and shifts in the family unit.

COME 364A: Media Law and Regulation

I wrote a paper about media law in the film, Good Night and Good Luck, directed by George Clooney. Media law was a little bit out of my comfort zone, but I learned a lot about what can and can’t be done in regards to media. My audience for this paper was my professor in order to demonstrate my understanding of media law. I really liked this class and am glad I took this as a media elective!

COME 389B: Intimate Relationships and Media

Although I concentrated in communication, I still took some really awesome media classes! In this class, my group members and I created a proposal for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week! This proposal was meant for college Title IX officers as a guide on what they can do to bring awareness to the issue during this week. As you can see, we made plans for events, media, and other things that the officers can do during that week!

COME 427: Communication Theory

This is my final communication project of college! I made a five-part podcast mini series about how colleges handle cases of sexual assault on campus. My target audience was mainly college officials who would hopefully use this information to improve the way their college handles sexual assault on campus. This podcast is also made to help people understand more about what a sexual assault survivor might be going through. I incorporated Communication Privacy Management Theory into my podcast and learned more about why theories are so important in society.
