Spring of 2019: Group report that analyzed what type of communication the college could use to better help their students in and out of the classroom. In this project we used quota sampling to find out what students of St. Norbert College believe is the most effective way for us all to communicate on campus. Fall of 2019: This was the final project for this class where I had to find a problem with modern day journalism and analyze why exactly it was an issue. I chose to research the connection with journalism and mass shootings, positing the idea that news coverage of these shootings not only sensationalizes these crimes, but also inspires others to copy them. Fall of 2020: Throughout the semester, I chose to analyze video games through the lens of the Bechdel Test. I did this by posting blogs that analyzed a different game each weak through different genres. At the end of the year, I posted the results of my findings in the form of a poster. I achieved this by looking at two major franchises (Star Wars and The Last of Us) and diving into online phenomenon such as “Gamergate”, echo chambers, and incels in the form of video and audio slideshow. Spring of 2021: This assignment asked us to analyze an episode of Black Mirror and write about how it affected us, as well as what we were able to take away from it. The episode I chose centered around a woman who implants a chip in her daughter that allows her to both track her movements and even censor what her child is able to see with her own eyes. The themes of control, freedom, and privacy are very much explored in this episode. The audience of this project was my professor, Mark Glantz.
