Digital Storytelling Project: #1

This piece relates to all three learning outcomes because for this assignment my group’s goal was to figure out the appropriate forms of communication to come up with results for creating a digital story of our choice. This was for COME384 – Communication Technology and Social Change with Professor Glantz. We were able to demonstrate what we got out of our communication research by writing our final paper, creating a google form for participants to fill out, and creating an Instagram page to post our results; in hopes to get more people participate and ride the shuttle themselves. This piece was meant for Professor Glantz and our class.

DPCO Flyer/Brochure: #2

This piece relates to learning outcome #1 and #2 because I created an appropriate message to reach audience members. My audience in this case was those who live in De Pere or are interested in learning more about De Pere Christian Outreach (DPCO). This was created during my internship at De Pere Christian Outreach. The “Fashion Cents” flyer was created for De Pere Christian Outreach’s first ever Fall Fashion Show. The brochure advertising De Pere Christian Outreach and its three vital programs has been in the works for quite some time and it was fun to create a vision that came to life! These pieces were meant for the general public.

Research Methods Paper: #3

This piece is most closely related to learning outcome #3 because my group analyzed a scholarly article and then wrote a literature review on said article. The article was about how college students use social media and whether or not it’s good for them. This was for COME 180 – Communication Research Methods with Dr. Smith. The intended audience for this was my professor.

IRPP Paper: #4

This piece is related to the learning outcomes #1 and #3 because it proves that I know how to evaluate systematic research, as well as take part in research that is being conducted. A large example being SONA studies here on campus. This was for COME180 – Communication Research Methods with Dr. Smith. The intended audience was for my professor.

Intergenerational Communication Infographic: #5

This piece is related to learning outcomes #1, #2, and #3 because I evaluated scholarly articles and created a message through the media of an infographic, while having my infographic targeted towards a certain audience. The infographic was intended for the elderly, but the assignment was made for Dr. Morgan in COME305 – Social Identity and Intergroup Communication.

Social Media Post: #6

This piece hits on #1 and #2 of the learning outcomes. I went through and analyzed different social media platforms that would work best for certain posts and getting messages out to the right audiences. I am able to recognize the influence of social media and the effects it has on its consumers on different platforms. This was for my Writing for Media class – COME 252 with Todd Hauser. This piece was targeted towards my professor and my “client” who I wrote the paper for.

Interpersonal Communication Scholarly Article – #7

The learning outcomes #2 and #3 are hit in this paper. The article was about superior-subordinate communication in the workplace. Which focused on verbal aggression, nonverbal immediacy, and their joint effects on perceived superior credibility. This was done in COME 122 – Interpersonal Communication with Dr. Antos. We were selected a partner and worked on the paper together and then explained our findings to the class. The intended audience for this paper was my professor, but the oral presentation was intended for both my class and Dr. Antos.

Health Communication Final Paper – #8

This hits on learning targets #2 and #3 because I analyze the different forms of communication that are being shown throughout the campaign. There are certain aspects in the video and campaign that give away key messages. For example, having bottles physically dragging on someone visibly shows the effect alcohol can have on a person. This was for COME 327 – Health Communication, with Dr. Smith. The intended audience was for my professor.
