This group project was presented verbally to my communication class due to wanting to inform students about gender identity and how many times gender roles are assigned by society focusing specifically on nursing perceptions. The idea is that many times specific jobs are looked upon as more feminine than masculine, and for nurses, people, for the most part, expect to see a woman. When referring to a doctor, most individuals perceive it to be a man who takes on this role. My group found it vital to demonstrate the importance of gender-neutral language and how stereotyping can lead to discrimination as behavior that advantages/disadvantages groups. (COME305)
