My name is Hannah Wright and I am majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing as well as a minor in Communication Studies. I am graduating from Saint Norbert College in May 2022. After graduation, I hope to pursue a job in digital marketing or event marketing. Throughout my four years at SNC, I was an academic tutor and I had an internship at SECURA Insurance in their Agency Training department. These experiences allowed me to learn a lot about not only myself, but how to help others as well. I strengthened many of my leadership and communication skills through both of these experiences as well as in the classroom.
When I entered college, I chose to have a minor in Communication Studies because I knew it would help me become more confident in myself when I interact with others as well as give me the ability to learn more about others and why we communicate in the ways we do. Before college, I was very shy and introverted. I had a hard time being comfortable speaking with people I wasn’t familiar with. These communication classes have allowed me to become more outspoken and gain more confidence in myself while speaking and interacting with other people. Not only have I learned a lot about myself through these courses I took, but I also learned a lot of practical information. This information covers a wide range of topics such as how we communicate in conflict, how to handle communication in families, and how our nonverbal communication is just as important as our verbal communication. Since my minor is Communication Studies, the courses I took allowed me to be engaged with critical and social scientific research. Being involved with these types of research has allowed me to gain skills to be able to critically analyze research, participate in research, and share important findings from research studies with specific audiences.
