Image and Sound – Paper

For this piece of communication evidence that I have picked out was the Image and Sound Essay that was assigned in my Television Criticism class. Through this essay, we had to examine a scene in a movie or television show and pick out the different camera angles, lighting tones, sound effects and so much more. We had to describe these elements and understand why the producers used those specific elements to strengthen the movie or television show. This was created during the end of my first semester of my senior year here at St. Norbert College. This paper’s target audience was my professor and my classmates.

How Do College Students Use Social Media? – Group Research Paper

This piece of evidence is a research paper on how college students use social media and the effects that it can have on them. This research paper includes a literature review, methods, results and discussion. We also had to conduct our own research in order to fully understand how college students use social media. We created this during my second semester of my sophomore year of college. My group and I were to conduct research on the topic of our choosing and evaluate the different research methods. The target audience for this research was my professor and my classmates.

Cleaning Up Our Oceans – Paper and Infographic

This paper and infographic helped address ethos, pathos and logos in an advertisement campaign and understand how it will resonate more with people. Through this paper and infographic, I hoped to educate people about the importance of ocean pollution and how it can affect people for years to come. The paper explains what is being shown within the infographic and how effective the infographic would be to a larger audience. The paper also helps map out the decisions I made throughout the process of making this advertisement campaign. The target audience was my professor and classmates, with the hope of others being able to use the infographic to gain knowledge on the problem of ocean pollution.

Humor in Small Groups -Group Podcast

The learning objectives for this group podcast was to learn and understand how humor can help you during group work, whether that is a group project for a class or a work team. This podcast was made in my Small Group Communication class. I was able to create this podcast with some of my classmates during the first semester of my senior year. This group podcast was made for a class to help people understand how small groups work together and how humor can add to productivity and overall enjoyment of the work. The target audience was my classmates and professors, but was shared with others as well. 

Father-Daughter Communication Relationships – Infographic

The learning objective for this infographic was to understand communicative relationships between fathers and their daughters. The infographic was created during my first semester of junior year. This was made in my Family Communication class to further understand the relationship between fathers and daughters during the daughters’ college years. In the infographic you are able to see information on attachment styles, communication strategies and the main takeaways. The target audience for this project was my fellow classmates and professor.

Senior Capstone Project – Podcast

The learning objectives throughout this senior capstone project was to help better understand communication between family members during a time of crisis. I was able to choose how I wanted to present my research, and I chose a podcast series. This project was created throughout my entire second semester. I was able to create three podcasts as I broke down how to better communicate with family members during a time of crisis, tips and tricks for better communication, and then combining family communication and crisis. This capstone project was created in the second semester of my senior year as a final project. The target audience for this podcast series was my professor and classmates. 

Mental Health Resource – Infographic and Paper

The learning objectives for this infographic on mental health was how there is a stigma behind getting help for your mental health especially when it comes to students in high school and college. The infographic goes into details about anxiety and stress and some recommendations for battling those feelings. I created this at the end of my second semester of my senior year of college for my overall senior project. There is also a paper that goes along with the infographic that goes further into detail about the mental health stigma. The target audience for this infographic and paper are my professor and classmates.

Movie Application – “Little Miss Sunshine”

The learning objectives for this movie application, for the movie Little Miss Sunshine was to focus on family communication and how there are different components to communication, especially when it comes to communication within the family. This paper focuses on fault lines, persuasion, information sharing and much more. This was created during my first semester of my senior year of college. This application was created to understand the communication between family members, and be able to identify problems within the movie. The target audience for this application is strictly my professor.
