This assignment is a compilation of my group’s work. We each read, notated, and analyzed a scholarly experience dealing with student attitudes surrounding and/or success in online classes. We then created a summary of our articles detailing the study and its findings. My particular article used social scientific research methods in order to collect the students thoughts and feelings about time spent in online class.

In my Scholarly Article Evaluation, I analyze the findings of an article and describe the strengths and weaknesses of the article and the study it details. The researchers of the study use critical research to determine the presence and therefore importance of women characters in film. I analyze their process and findings to my reader as well as explain what the researchers did well and could have done better.

In this particular Application Assignment, I use social scientific research methods and craft a survey that includes nominal, ordinal, and interval questions. I ask demographic questions as well as questions using a Likert scale. These questions were then put toward our class-wide research project.

For this assignment, I chose the creative method of a presentation to accomplish the communicative goal of educating about restorative rhetoric. In this presentation, I detail for my audience the key characteristics of, examples of, and the usefulness of restorative rhetoric. The goal of this presentation was to display my own knowledge of restorative rhetoric through using a format that could be educational to others.

This assignment is an interview that I created with the goal of analyzing a student’s feelings about having online classes during the pandemic. The interview includes an introduction, 7 questions surrounding the student’s feelings and success during the semester, and a conclusion. In this assignment, I choose the creative method of an interview to accomplish the communicative goal of obtaining student opinions on online classes.

For this project, I conducted a literature review on the representation of women in film. I analyzed seven different articles and then presented my overall findings to the class. I discuss women’s lack of accurate representation, the widely known but controversial Bechdel test, and the future of representation among other things.

For this essay, I analyze image repair messages put out by Johnny Depp after the abuse scandal with Amber Heard. Image repair discourse is a huge part of our lives especially in the age of social media. I analyze the tactics that Depp uses as well as the effectiveness of his image repair attempts.

In my analysis of image repair articles, I detail different image repair strategies used by companies or celebrities after a crisis. I analyze the effectiveness of each different strategy and describe how it relates to Benoit’s Theory of Image Repair Discourse.

In my Image and Sound Essay I analyze the move 1917 in order to identify the meaning behind the cinematography and how it influences the film watching experience. I argue that cinematographer Roger Deakins uses unique filming techniques and lighting in order to give the audience a fully immersive experience into the world of WWI.

In this Participation Reflection, I analyze my Instagram account in order to argue that I, like many people, use social media to portray a certain message. Using my social media account as an indicator of myself, I try to communicate through images and captions to portray myself in a positive light.
