Collaboration.
Small Group Communication brought divided the class into groups of 5 in order to truly experience the 5 roles we take on in our social groups.
These 5 people, 5 roles were instructed to approach conflict, work together, collaborate.
They needed to find an efficient way to tackle issues and come together in order to give meaningful and effective presentations.
We began with introducing ourselves and coming up with a group name. We felt “The Bachelorettes” were fitting as we were a group of 5 comprised of entirely women.
Our next big assignment consisted of presenting a symposium regarding our topic of choice. All of us agreed to be motivated by inspirational books, so we ran with it.
Finally, our last major project was the infamous debate assignment. This was our Everest. We worked tirelessly on our debate prompt: Animal Cruelty in Cosmetic Production.
We did endless research to come up with the best propositions and rebuttals for and against the argument. We were not being told which we were representing until we approached the podium and the professor told us which we were presenting on. We needed to be ready. Below is an example of my proposition and the rebuttal for countering a proposition.
